MineMineNoMi is a popular Minecraft mod inspired by the One Piece universe, featuring Devil Fruits, factions, combat abilities, and custom biomes.
My involvement was through a forked version of the original project, and it marked the very beginning of my journey in programming.
At the time, I had no prior experience — only curiosity and a passion for One Piece. I started by exploring the codebase and gradually managed to contribute concrete features:
- I added custom abilities for specific Devil Fruits, including new attack mechanics and cooldown logic.
- I worked within the Forge modding environment to understand how the game handled item effects and interactions.
This project introduced me to Java, the Minecraft Forge API, and the fundamentals of navigating and modifying a large, collaborative codebase.
Even if the scope of my work was limited, it sparked something much bigger:
It taught me the joy of bringing ideas to life through code — and opened the door to everything that followed in my software engineering path.
Looking back, MineMineNoMi wasn’t just a mod — it was the first step into tech.
